In the final scene of the series, Angela is working in New York City and calls Herman, who is living with his new wife Vanessa in New Zealand. Sadly, the real Angela and Herman divorced in 1989 and have since remarried.
Angela Kane, formerly Knippenberg, is a German diplomat from Hamelin, Lower Saxony, Germany.
In the 1970s, Angela was married to Dutch junior diplomat, Herman Knippenberg who was posted to the Dutch embassy in Bangkok.
He had begun looking into the disappearance of two Dutch travellers, Henk Bintanja, 29 and Cornelia Hemker, 25, in 1976 and soon discovered the pair were not only dead but had been murdered.
Knippenberg, who was 31-years-old at the time, began his search for their killer, leading himself down a dark path of murder and deceit.
